The CompEx Level 1 Award: Ex Awareness is an introductory course that provides a basic understanding of how to stay safe in environments where explosive atmospheres may be present. These environments are often found in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, manufacturing, and utilities.

This course is designed for anyone who may enter, work in, or support operations in hazardous areas, even if they are not performing electrical work. It does not involve practical assessments, making it ideal for raising general awareness across a wide range of roles.

Explosive atmospheres pose serious risks to health, safety, and equipment. Without the proper understanding of the hazards involved, even seemingly simple tasks—like entering a site, delivering materials, or using the wrong tools—can lead to dangerous incidents.

This award serves as an introduction for further CompEx modules such as Ex Foundation or Foundation Plus.
